The pop singer scored big as Artist of the Year and Song of the Year for “Shake It Off,” and won Best Lyrics for her hit tune, “Blank Space.”
Swift also assisted Madonna during a performance of the music icon’s newest song “Ghost Town” by playing guitar alongside the queen of pop.
The performance kicked off with Madonna and Swift sitting back to back, with only Madonna visible to the audience. Swift was later revealed as the guitar player sitting on stage with her. The performance ended with Madonna giving Swift a kiss on the cheek before they walked off stage together arm in arm.
“My favorite guitar player, yeah!” Madonna said as she presented Swift with song of the year.
“More than anything in the world, I just hope that any of the fans watching know how much I adore you … we’ve gotten closer and closer with each year, not further apart,” remarked Swift at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles. “You make me so happy.”
Madonna praised Swift in an interview with Rolling Stone stating, “She has an opinion, and she’s going against the norm. So in that respect, she is similar to me. And also, people just want to give her a hard time all the time because they think she’s a goody-two-shoes, so of course I want to embrace her.”
